IBPS - INSTITUTE OF BANKING PERSONNEL SELECTION

IBPS declared a Common Written Examination (CWE) for the recruitment of Probationary officers and clerks in Indian banks in the year 2012. IBPS CWE is compulsory for anyone who seeks employment in 29 public sector and regional rural banks.

Each year, IBPS announces recruitment for Clerks, PO and SO posts in nationalized banks, State Bank of India and RRBs. The candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will have to apply online, register, pay the application fees, obtain the admit card and appear for preliminary and main exams. In case of IBPS SO and IBPS PO, candidates will also have to appear for an interview before a selection panel. The dates for submitting applications, exam dates and interview dates are conveyed by IBPS.

Educational Qualification

Candidate has to be a graduate/ should have a degree in any field from a Recognised University or Institute that has been recognized by the Government of India.

Candidates should have a few necessary documents handy at the time of registrations for the exam, mark sheets which include scorecard/ report card/ mark sheet of Standard XII as well as graduation.

Age Limit and Relaxation

The lower age limit for IBPS PO exam is 20 years and the upper age limit is 30 years. Candidates that fall within this range can appear for the examination.

Candidates may seek age relaxation on the following basis:

Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe category may seek an age relaxation up to 5 Year

Candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) category may seek age relaxation up to 3 Years

Candidates with Disabilities may seek age relaxation up to 10 Years

Candidates belonging to the class of Ex-Servicemen, Commissioned Officers together with Emergency Commissioned Officers/ Short Service Commissioned Officers who have contributed a minimum of five years of military service and have been discharged on completion of assignment may seek age relaxation for up to 5 Years

Candidates actually domiciled in the state of Jammu & Kashmir during the period 1st Jan 1980 to 31st Dec 1989 may seek age relaxation for up to 5 Years

Candidates affected by 1984 riots may seek age relaxation for up to 5 Years

Number of Attempts

Until the candidate exceeds the age limit for the IBPS exam, there is no limit to the number of attempts for the exam.

Marking Scheme:

There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the objective Test. For each wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score

Cutoff Score:

Each candidate will have to secure a minimum standardized score in each section of the tests to qualify examination. The cut off points will be decided on the average.
